WHO WE ARE

Eyes Open Photography was created by Jordan Tidd to raise awareness for Glaucoma through photography. Diagnosed with the disease at 17 years old, she now combines her love for the art with her personal perspective living with Glaucoma. She works with both the Canadian Ophthalmological Society to provide the most accurate information and the Glaucoma Research Society as the recipient of donations. Jordan Tidd works on the other side of the lens as a professional fashion model; but when her work day is done, most people know her to go right back to capturing moments whether it be through a three second video or a panoramic shot. Look out for Glaucoma Edits, which are photographs by Jordan Tidd specifically edited to illustrate vision with Glaucoma. If you are unable to purchase a piece, we hope you are able to learn more about the beautifully, complex disease that provides Jordan with her inspiration.

"As my disease takes its course at a snail’s pace, we want to use every last moment to see the world. Nothing is taken for granted - not a single cloud, blade of grass, or dandelion seed. Come with open eyes and a hopeful mind! Glaucoma awareness is extremely important to me; and now and forever, Eyes Open Photography will be donating a percentage of all profits towards Glaucoma research. Find a piece that reflects yourself or create feelings of appreciation and love for our world; and I would be honoured to have it on your walls."

- Jordan Tidd, 2022

Eyes Open Photography hosts bi-annual photography exhibitions. We hope to meet you someday!

ARTIST PROFILE

Jordan Tidd was diagnosed with Glaucoma at the young age of seventeen. At the time, she was more focused on picking out her prom dress; however, as the disease began to slowly affect her vision, her love for capturing beautiful moments became stronger - not taking a single sight for granted.

"My work explores the use of photography as an instrument to illustrate the new perspective of the worldview that my Glaucoma creates. It's incredibly ironic how the camera acts as my eye. Glaucoma is incurable and uncorrectable, but the different lenses and camera settings give me the opportunity to see the smallest of details and widest of views. I also find inspiration in the ocean - my favourite destination and where I try to spend the most time is beautiful Paradise Island, Bahamas. Being near the ocean, I can feel my other senses strengthening which is a perspective I create in my work."

UPCOMING TRAVEL

Jordan will be travelling to the following destinations for work throughout 2023

Quebec

Germany

She can't wait to capture some incredible shots and share them through the eyes of someone with Glaucoma.
